eARLY HISTORY
Scotland's very interesting history is yet another one of it's stunning features.

In the early years of Scotland there was no trace of activity since large ice sheets called glaciations covered Scotland for many many years which caused its history to start only 10,000 years ago. It began with the Roman Empire moving over to Scotland. Shortly after the Roman's came the “painted ones” (Picti people) who forced the Roman's many legions back. After this, the invasion of the Norse Vikings started attack Scotland which led to Scotland getting beat many times. This caused the Gaelics and the Picti to unite in the 9th century and form what today is the Kingdom of Scotland. They started to trade with other countries in the late Bronze Age and due to a shortage of trees way back most of the houses and structures were made of stone. Soon after, the people of Scotland got their first king. Centuries later at the time of world war l Scotland played a major role of supplying much manpower and a whole lot of warships to reinforce the British. At the time Scotland only had a population of 4.8 million and they sent over half a million men. When the war was over a quarter of the people died and 150,000 thousand were wounded. After the war Scotland expanded their shipbuilding industry by a third and expected to hit major prosperity but in 1922 a major depression occurred and they didn't recover until 1939.
